David's Story
"Life"
I started as a kid who was always taking things apart and putting them back together, building cars and motorcycles in my garage. Because of this, I went into technology in 1970, training with IBM. Soon after getting my first job working for GTE data services supporting the phone company. I then moved on to Kaiser Permanente where I made my mark developing technology for early detection of cancer, blood disease and other critical ailments that can be identified through patient history (Patient Outreach). This sent me to the Computerworld Smithsonian Institute of technology to be entered in their archives and presented a medal in Washington for development of technology to benefit mankind. I also worked on the technology to provide Kaiser with electronic medical records system and developed their patient notification system but the stress and work environment took a toll on my health and forced me to move on. This allowed me to move to Union Bank designing support departments to manage newer...Expand for more
technology to support the growing online demand. I lead the consolidation of multiple data centers while heading west coast operational requirements for the bank. I finally Retired from Union Bank in December 2016. Now I shifted my focus running my business for Real Estate investments (buy and sell real estate property as well as rentals). Love to ride the big bikes (Harley's) often taking rides to Palm Springs or Santa Barbara. Also do several charity rides with my HOG buddies. Recently restored my 1975 Corvette to almost show quality. Love wine tasting in Paso Robles or Temecula. For my 60th birthday, I rewarded myself with a new Corvette Grand sport. Seems fitting since we're with a Corvette club...this gives more mobility than the classic Vett. So keep an eye out for me riding around town on either the HOG or Vett! Yes, I still live in Montebello.
We married in 1976 and have 3 kids (daughter who has our two granddaughters, Two sons with my youngest giving us a grandson & granddaughter.
